Monfragüe has the largest colony of black vultures in the world, but also has the world's largest concentration of imperial eagles, black storks, griffon vultures, owls, golden eagles, Bonelli's eagle, cranes, Egyptian vultures and crows.
Man left his mark in the cave paintings. There are schematic paintings of human and animal figures in the cave underneath the castle.
